Shibari
Shibari is the art of making connection visible – through ropes, through bodies, through trust. The aesthetics lie not only in the form, but in the meaning of each rope.
Shibari is a Japanese-inspired art of rope bondage that focuses on the process of tying itself, rather than forcing a specific outcome. This practice goes far beyond physical sensations and places special emphasis on the emotions evoked through the rope. The ties create a unique connection based on trust and the surrender of control. They open up new possibilities for connecting with one another and combining bodywork with emotional depth.
Each rope session offers space and time to explore one's innermost desires, without there being a “right” or “wrong.” Shibari knows no boundaries – it is an endless opportunity to discover oneself and one another. Shibari not only opens up new possibilities for bodywork and emotional interaction, but is also appreciated as a performative or photographic art form – a fusion of intimacy and creativity.
About me
Mie Neko
Hello, I’m Mie Neko. I’m a rope switch from the Ruhr area, Germany and started practicing shibari in 2017.
Since 2020, I have also been active as a teacher and performer at national and international events, while simultaneously organizing my own events and workshops.
My tying style is a fusion of my passion for body manipulation, power dynamics, semenawa, and my very soft yet precise and intentional approach to handling the rope.
In my teaching, I place particular emphasis on sharing my expertise as a smaller rigger, while also focusing on rope model education and rope safety. And of course, on how to establish an emotional connection through rope as a medium of communication.

Workshops offer you a safer space to learn and deepen Shibari skills in a group setting. Each workshop has a specific theme tailored to different experience levels (from beginners to advanced).

Would you like to learn Shibari or expand your skills, but prefer learning as a couple?
Private tuitions are customized private lessons where I fully address the individual needs of you as a couple. You can choose both the topic and the date yourselves.

I am available for bookings as a performer for various occasions. Together with my tying partners, I offer an insight into the world of Shibari through shows lasting 30 to 60 minutes. Sometimes you can also find me on the stages of larger kinky parties or at my Performance Nights in Essen.
Whether your community is completely new to Shibari or you’re looking for fresh inspiration for your rope gathering, together we’ll create a fantastic event.
